RE: Gray water on campfire
"So.. NO, it is not a "Bad" thing to dump grey water on the ground in some instances... as for dousing a campfire with grey water ... follow the local rules... every place has different rules."
I think that this is the point that 90% of the posts on this thread has missed, there is nothing wrong with dumping it on a campfire, or anywhere else, IN SOME PLACES, and it shouldn't be a problem anywhere else, BUT IT IS, Whatever we think the rules SHOULD BE, doesn't really matter when the dude with the badge is reaching into your wallet.
follow the local rules... every place has different rules."
RE: Q's about leaving stick house
.All insurance possible to cancel on vehicle sitting in garage cancelled
Very poor advice. If anything happened while you are gone that damaged the vehicle, you would have to cover the loss yourself. Think fire, theft, vandalsim, storm.Seems like every bit of that would be covered under the home owners policy, while it's parked in the garage.
RE: Fuel Rants & Raves - Post 'Em Here!
.....that is 85% in 10 months...
But, you are not being taken advantage of. Their costs have gone up by that much. Somehow, it now costs almost twice as much to mine oil and produce fuel with it. :R
I really need to start selling that beach front property in AZ...
WE get it !! Actually, we got it 100 posts ago. You believe in the Big Oil Conspiracy Theory. Now show us something to back it up ?I've shown it a couple times, guess you didn't read it, so here it is.

Sounds like a conspiracy to me !!!!!!!
RE: WM & Going Green In Their Lots
If you RV has a power inverter you do not have to run your generator for anything but your air cond. If it is so hot you have to run your air you would be better off getting a camp site for the night. RonnieLike you, we never run the generator at Wal-Mart, but,not everyone has an inverter,(yet) or solar panels, or the room to add adozen more batteries.
"If they were to worry about emissions, the truckers are the worse, running their gen's constantly. We never crank our generators while in the WM lot."
If the trucks turn thiers off, there will be a lot of rotted stuff in the stores.
RE: South Carolina Motor home tax ?
(I have lived in five different states, and they ALL had personal properaty tax on vehicles). I have lived in 2 states, Pa. and N.Y., and never had to pay personal property tax on vehicles. We pay sales tax on them when purchased but not a yearly tax.Maybe your yearly license fees are less. Ours are $40-$50. Your taxes sure make owning a nice motor home and a few nice boats and cars a painful taxing experience. Thanx for the info. SC is scratched from the list. You forgot to mention that while NY doesn't have a personal property tax, they do have a school tax, which SC & many other states do not have. When I lived in NY, my school tax was more than my land taxes. Frankly, I find the personal property tax, a lot more fair than school tax, in NY, if you own property(real estate), you pay school tax, whether or not you have children going to school, my grandmother paid school tax at age 92, & didn't have a child in school for around 70 years. At least with persoal property tax, you only pay if you have a regestered vehicle, (motor cycle, car, boat,MH)if you don't have one, you don't pay.SC is not the only one with a personal property tax, Va has it also, & i'm sure there are other states that do too.
If you want to find out how your state stacks up, as far as ALL taxes, check it out.

RE: Where to Change oil
bukhrn,
How many miles does your owner's manual call for between oil changes? You can extend that a bit, and there is no good reason to change the oil any sooner. It calls for 5000 mi.,which it will have, by the time I get to, roughly Billings,MT., but then it's another 3700 back home, I don't want to extend it that much.

RE: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos
Why can't this be a "stickie" ??????????
Don't know, I guess they don't want to, it's been asked more than a few times.
Where to Change oil
For those that change thier own oil, where do you do it while on the road, I'm sure a dealer or truck stop will do it, but what if you want to do your own?
RE: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos
Someone was asking how to find this posting and I checked and it is not on any of the 16 pages, so I am going to bump it, hope it makes it back. This is the best information on the boards for new people. The easiest way,is to subscribe to it>
RE: attn: Townsend, Tn. campers
This WAS one of our favorite campgrounds. I am very disappointed at the rate increases. They have now priced it out of my range. You would think with increased gas prices that they would try to intice us with lower rates.
I told them they could keep their $75. Bad thing is, with a full campground, they couldn't care less if they have MY business. There is a sucker born every minute, or in this case, a CG full of them.
